Celebs to Go Silent on Twitter and Facebook for Charity – Will You?
An interesting post by Mashable earlier today entitled, “Celebs to Go Silent on Twitter and Facebook for Charity“, famous celebrities like Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Seacrest would temporarily refrain from using their social networking accounts like Facebook and Twitter in support of the project organized by Alicia Keys, on behalf of her charity, Keep a Child Alive.
Other noted celebrities that support the said cause aiming to raise $1 million for World AIDS Day, which takes place on December 1, include the Kardashian sisters – Kim and Khloe, Jennifer Hudson and Serena Williams.
According to the Associated Press, the effort will be further supported by dramatic videos featuring the celebs in what the AP describes as “lying in coffins to represent what the campaign calls their digital deaths.”
It’s interesting to note that a year ago, Miley Cyrus deleted her Twitter account (for another purpose though) and don’t you wonder how much she could have raised if she did it for a cause?
Would you temporarily refrain from tweeting just to support the cause or would you rather keep tweeting and using other social media tools for a social change? What other things are you willing to give up just to show your support for a cause?
