How to Become Likeable, More Likeable and Likeable at Work

There has been a lot written about how to become likeable, more likeable and likeable at work. My all-time favorite blogger Penelope Trunk has written several posts about the topic so I’m not gonna try and add to them because I love how natural she can be at giving tips, especially when it comes telling about the farmer. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then you should go ahead and take a look at this amazing woman and you’ll be surprised you haven’t read about her sooner.

How to Become Likeable on Facebook

Now let’s talk about how to become likeable on Facebook. With the current digital age wherein everyone simply wants to become connected and share tons of things, I figured that at some point in your online life, you must have wondered as to how you could get those “likes” and affirmation from the people that you’re in contact with.

According to the numbers released by Nielsen, in January 2010, the amount of time the average person spent on Facebook jumped to more than seven hours as the digital universe expands and Facebook becoming the world’s ultimate time waster. People love to update their status, read his messages or his friends’ Wall posts, stalk on his ex, look on his boss’ latest vacation photos, see the neighbor’s new cats and lots of mundane and attention seeking statuses, photos and activities. And oh, shall we add the time a person spends on Farmville, Texas Hold Em, Cafe World and other popular games? Just as Sean Parer once said on The Social Network Movie,

“We lived in farms, then we lived in cities, and now we’re gonna live on the internet!”

Now, how does one get more “Likes” on Facebook. You know that kind of craving that people have once they click on that “Share” button after Facebook asks them, “Whats on your mind?”. Let’s face it, we like being noticed through the status, photos and even activities that we share.

How to Get More Likes on Facebook

1. Share happy thoughts.

Happy thoughts make people happy and the best way to make people do what you want, achieve the results you yearn more, is to make them happy and eventually they’ll like you, or listen to you. Also, there had been various studies that prove that happy people are much more productive. Well, to get more comments in facebook, be negative. To get likes, be positive.

2. What would they say?

Or what would you like to hear from others? Put yourself in “your friends” shoes. Most people “Like” what they would say themselves or something that they would agree in.

I know a lady who posts positive quotes daily. When compared to my other friends, she gets the most likes and positive responses and interaction from her friends. Well of course there are many factors such as how responsive and how supportive her friends can be but you get it, people just love to “Like” positive people.

3. Ask them to.

Do I need to say more? Well, if you’re desperate. I know, that sounds ridiculous but it’s rampant. I know a friend who would solicit “Likes” of his status. So get that mobile phone and send a text message to your friends and encourage them to “Like” your Facebook status.

In Facebook, it’s easier to “Like” than to “Comment”.

In Life, it’s easier o “Like” than to Commit”.

How to Get More People to “Like” Your Facebook page

I’ve made an experiment to see if people would “Like” my page simply because they’re my friend, a blog reader or simply because they think I’m awesome. I figured it’s the latter. ;-) Seriously, it’s the first. People tend to approve and join a group or “Like” a page because they’re a friend. Bank on that. Therefore, make sure that your network with people you’d like to deal business with or associate yourself with. Network with similar-minded individuals to make the most of your online presence.

You see, your network is your net worth.

However, be sure to “Love people and use thing instead of the other way around”.

Below are some of the simple approaches to get more “Likes” on your Facebook status and/or page.

1. Be a constant updater.

Update as often as you can – regularly. It doesn’t have to be daily. It just needs to be constantly.

Remember, people want to hear from you, don’t disappoint them.

2. Don’t clutter their News Feed.

Make sure that what you’re sharing is something they’d find value and don’t just update for the sake of updating.

3. Be interactive.

When people comment or “Like” your post, be sure to respond as they’ve taken some of their precious time to notice you. Be sure to show them you appreciate it.

4. Be engaging.

Social network are not just always about you. Listen to your readers and be sure to engage with them by asking what they think, what they want and not just about what you’d like to share.

5. Be generous.

Oh, what could be more enticing could give you a quick jump start in growing your fanbase than by starting a contest? People love freebies! Think of a contest that will catch the attention of your targeted market and give out freebies. Let’s see if you won’t see excited “Likes” in a heartbeat.

Becoming more likeable on Facebook and life can be achieved in various ways but there’s nothing more effective than just being genuine. Think of something unique skill that you have and people would find value of and focus on improving it. You don’t need to pretend to be cool, to be someone else. Just make sure that you are genuine in whatever you do, and the rest will follow.

Hi Tony, Sorry about the confusion on Twitter! haha Now should I make an article about how to randomly attract a Follower on Twitter and put "create confusion" in there? haha So yeah I hit reply on Brian's tweet and later realized he RT you! It's a fun thing I got to meet you now though and thanks for taking some time to leave a comment, it means so much to me! Glad you like the ideas and thanks for sharing it with your followers, you rock man! ;-)
